Quinceanera.com met with Roxy, talented & creative owner of Roxy’s Bridal, who gave us a sneak peek into her life and on how her famous boutique came out to be the must-go-to place dress shop.

Roxy, please introduce us to Roxy’s Bridal:

Roxy’s Bridal was established in 2001, in Montclair, CA. My family is composed of business entrepreneurs and doctors, and as a young child my professional goal was to be a pediatric doctor. I was a very simple, quiet and obedient daughter, which led me to be very reserved when it came to friends and boys.

I bring this up because as a young girl I thought that at the rate I was going, I was never going to get married. The joke was on me, I have been married for 10 years and have two beautiful daughters.

The movie “The Wedding Planner” was released January 26, 2001, and my vision of what I wanted to be when I grew up shifted gears. I wanted to be part of people’s happiest moments. My parents and I decided that opening a store that catered to brides, quinceañeras, prom and everything formal was a way to partake in others life passages.

My passion for quinceañera dresses began when I was only fourteen years old. I was planning my own quinceañera, and I was having a hard time finding a dress that fit my personality, so I got creative and started designing until I came up with my perfect quinceañera dress.

Since then, I have not stopped because designing, creating, mixing and matching for a quinceañera or a bride is a rewarding experience every time.

Roxy's Bridal motto is “Imagine It, We’ll Design It!”

Roxy’s Bridal motto is “Imagine It, We’ll Design It!”

How many months in advance must a Quince girl ‘imagine’ her dress in order for you to design it?

A quince girl who has decided that a catalog dress just won’t do should order her dress at least 3 months prior to the event date. To have your dress designed, you only have to Imagine It!

We don’t need professional sketches-all we need is for you to point us in the right direction, so most customers provide us with pictures of what they want the bodice, skirt, and the back of the dress to look like. Leave the rest to us, and we’ll design a beautiful gown made especially for you.

What is the price range of your designs?

Dresses range in many prices. When it comes to prices, we quote based on design, level of difficulty, materials and beading. For the most part they start off at $650.00.

With over 15 years of experience in the Quince industry, tell us 3 things that have not gone out of fashion for this type of celebration?

1.    A quinceañera and her tiara
2.    A beautiful ball gown
3.    A court to share your day with.

The last two times Roxy’s Bridal participated at our expos, your collection featured Victorian dresses, zebra designs and dresses designed by other girls. How would you describe Roxy’s most recent XV collection?

Our most recent XV Collection is inspired and created by our future quinceañeras. Our motto is “Imagine It, We’ll Design It!” So we can’t categorize or name it. It is simply “You.”

What would you say are the best colors for next year, Quince girls?

The 2015’s Quinceañera colors are ivory, champagne, blush pink, coral, aqua, mint, fuchsia and turquoise.

If you could advise the girls on which trend not to follow, which one would it be?

The one trend I would recommend future quinceañeras not to follow is having a lavish, over the top celebration. Planning and carrying out a well-organized quinceañera is a difficult task now let’s add the stress of having to impress and keep up with the Jones’ takes all the joy of making it memorable.

Lastly, what type of dress would you recommend for short, tall, curvy and slim Quinceañeras?

In all honesty, on the day of your quinceañera if all you had was a trash bag to wear, you would still feel beautiful and amazing because it is you the person that they are celebrating.

But if you were wondering what styles fit your shape, you’re in luck because a quinceañera dress is a ball gown that is designed to be fitted at the bodice and pouf at the bottom, which makes it a forgiving style that fits all sizes because it focuses on the chest and waist therefore it hides tummies and full hips.

Now, to look your absolute best, be aware of the shape of the neckline and the shape of the waist line.

My advice to all future quinceañeras still shopping for a quince dress is, “DON’T SETTLE!” If you didn’t find it in a catalog, then get it made. If you are uncomfortable with strapless, add cap sleeves. Your imagination will empower you to use the resources available to choose, design or tweak the perfect quinceañera dress till it screams, “YOU!”
