How to pop the “Will you be my chambelan?” question

One of the many challenging aspects of planning a quinceañera is finding a boy to be your escort. Traditionally, his role is referred to as a quinceañera’s “chambelan de honor”, which actually translates in English to “honorable dance partner”. If you already happen to have a special guy in mind you’re hoping will be your dance partner on your quinceañera day, you’ll of course have to ask him first.

To be on the safe side, it’s recommended you give yourself plenty of time to fill the spot of chambelan. He’ll need time to learn the dances, so you’ll want to be sure you ask him at least several months in advance. Also, keep in mind that not every boy is going to necessarily want or be able to take on the responsibility of chambelan, so be prepared with a list of at least a few guys to ask if your first choice happens to decline.

There are a number of ways that you can go about asking him to do this big favor for you, with the simplest being just to come out and simply ask him “Will you be my chambelan?”. Want to get even a little more creative? It’s actually a really cool idea to ask him in a fun engaging way which will also most likely up your chances of receiving a “yes” answer!

You can make a thoughtful card with a sweet message in it followed by your proposal or go all out and surprise him with a huge bunch of balloons that spell out your special question. Most guys love to eat, so another awesome way to ask him to be your chambelan would be to accompany your proposition with something he enjoys, like his favorite dessert. It’ll be incredibly hard for him to say “no” when you’ve gone through the trouble of baking a delicious cake and spelling out “Will you be my chambelan?”on the top of it with icing.
