Catholic Items Essential for Your Quinceañera Ceremony
Here are some essential Catholic items a quinceañera should have on her special day.
Although this celebration is customary among Hispanic families, any girl can celebrate a Quinceañera following the tradition. A Quinceañera can be both a religious and a social event. A traditional Catholic celebration includes a Mass known as "The Blessing of the Quince Years," which takes place in a Catholic church followed by a social reception.
These are some of the religious items that are customary in a Quinceañera:
- Tiara or Crown
The tiara or crown a quinceañera wears on her head on the day of her Quince represents how God sees her. The crown symbolizes and declares that she is a princess, the daughter of God because He is the king.
- Two Bouquets of Flowers
A quinceañera should bring two bouquets on the day of her party. One natural and one artificial; the natural one should be offered to the Virgin Mary, and the artificial one is kept by the quinceañera as a souvenir, unless she prefers a natural bouquet.
- Bible and Rosary
The Bible and rosary represent the quinceañera's faith with the Catholic Church. Typically, these religious items can be blessed by the priest with holy water.
- A Ring or Necklace
The ring and/or necklace the quinceañera wears on the day of her Quince symbolizes God's unconditional love for her.
All these items are essential in a traditional Catholic Quinceañera.
