Charcuterie boards are the latest trend when it comes to hosting a small group of friends, or wanting an effortless and simple dinner! Building your own charcuterie board can be fun and inspire your creative side while being at home.

Charcuterie is the art of preparing meats that have been cured or smoked. The most common meats are bacon, ham, or salami. Throw in some cheeses, fruits, and crackers and you have yourself a nice, fancy charcuterie board! 

All the ingredients you need are at your local food stores. 

Here are a few ideas on how to make the perfect charcuterie board and make it fancy!

The Perfect Ingredients

First, choose:

Cheese

  • Sharp cheddar cheese
  • Swiss cheese
  • Havarti cheese
  • Gouda cheese
  • Fuego Jack cheese (similar to pepper jack and cheddar cheese together)

Meats

  • Bacon
  • Ham
  • Salami
  • Deli turkey breast
  • Pepperoni

Vegetables

  • Baby carrots
  • Sliced cucumbers
  • Grape tomatoes
  • Olives

Fruits

  • Apple slices
  • Grapes
  • Orange slices

Dips

  • Ranch
  • Hummus

Fillers

  • Crackers
  • Pretzels
  • Trail mix
  • M&Ms
  • Nuts

Now that you have all your ingredients, you are ready to put it all together!

Step 1: Grab a wooden board or platter

Step 2: Put ingredients that need to be placed in bowls (dips and fruit)

Step 3: Spread out the cheese around the board in any design

Step 4: Add the meats of choice

Step 5: Add the veggies

Step 6: Add Crackers

Step 7: If you have some space left, fill in with other goodies such as M&Ms or nuts
