No one likes dealing with pimples, especially if you are gearing up for a big event or party and want to look your best.  What we eat affects the way we look and feel and will help us look our best from the inside out.

If you struggle with blemishes or breakouts here are five foods that will clear your skin and help lead to a beautiful, glowing, blemish free complexion.

FISH

Great options are salmon and tuna because they contain healthy fats that help keep your skin hydrated to prevent dry, flaky skin. Fish is also rich in B vitamins, zinc and vitamin E that help to renew your skin.

 Tip: Consider packing a tuna salad for school lunch this week.

ALMONDS

Almonds are great because they are rich in vitamin E, which can help repair sun damage. They are also high in fiber. A diet high in fiber is great for your digestion and good digestion leads to clearer skin.

Tip: Almonds are an easy on the go snack, you can also get almond butter and make a quick almond butter and jam sandwich or use almond milk on your cereal.

SWEET POTATOES

Sweet potatoes are high in vitamin A, which has been shown to help with the appearance of your skin. Sweet potatoes are a superfood for your skin because they naturally help your skin shed old, dead cells. Sweet potatoes can be part of a produce rich diet that leads to healthy, glowing and better-hydrated skin.

Tip: Bake a sweet potato and top with a bit of butter and cinnamon or order some sweet potato fries next time you’re out with friends.

BERRIES

Berries are full of antioxidants that are naturally packed with skin clearing antioxidants. They are also a great way to add more fiber to your diet.

Tip: Berries are a great snack to pack for school. Frozen berries are a more affordable option and great on top of yogurt or in a smoothie.

AVOCADO

Avocados contain a healthy dose of vitamin C that can help reduce inflammation in your skin. Adding avocado to your diet can help your skin stay moisturized naturally.

Tip: Fill half an avocado with tuna salad for an easy lunch or add avocado to your smoothie to make it extra thick and delicious.
