Thanksgiving is just one day away and, for many of us, it is the official kick-off to holiday season weight gain. If you are trying to keep yourself from putting on some weight, then watching what you eat is a must!
Here are a few tips for keeping the weight off this holiday season:
Drink a full glass of water 10-15 minutes before you start eating. Water is a filler and drinking water a few minutes before eating will help keep you from overeating.
Start with salad or grilled vegetables instead of the main course. Spinach, berries, avocado and vegetables like carrots, green beans, sweet potato, mushroom, beans and broccoli are all high in fiber, which mean that they get you full quickly and keep you feeling full longer.
Have a baked potato instead of mashed potatoes.
Skip the gravy, macaroni and cheese, bread rolls and pies!
Don’t deprive yourself! If you feel like having some high fat foods like pastas, desert, tamales, etc., limit yourself to just one or a small serving, but save it for the end of your meal so that you don’t overindulge.
