Say goodbye to long marathon gym sessions and say hi to your NEW and favorite exercise: Yoga!
Girls might often think Yoga could be too boring to try since adults are the ones who practice it the most. However, Yoga allows teens to relax and unwind, and it’s perfect to help your transition into adulthood.
Before we start, we believe you need to understand what yoga really is and the benefits to getting your body contorted into all sorts of different poses, or “Asanas”? Here to help clear up a bit the confusion and explain some of the benefits of yoga for teenagers is yoga instructor Lina Navia, co-founder of ümbral yoga.
What is yoga?
The word yoga means “to unite”. Yoga is an exercise that helps us connect with our body, breath and mind. It helps us to relate to ourselves in a deeper, more meaningful way. The end result of the practice should be to feel better after we do it.

What are some of the benefits for Quinceañeras?
Besides the general benefits of the practice, yoga will help you cope better with your issues: changing bodies, the pressure to fit in, stressful schedules, responsibilities and the uncertainty about who to become in the future. Also, at a more physical level, especially for women, yoga helps to stabilize hormonal changes and relieves discomfort during menstrual cycles.
How much time is required for a complete yoga session?
A complete yoga session can be an hour or two hours. If you don’t have that time everyday, even practicing for fifteen minutes could greatly benefit you.
Is it easy to do when you’re young?
The younger you start practicing, the better. When you are young your body is more flexible and you might be more willing to try new and challenging poses. The purpose of yoga is not to be able to do fancy poses… it is to connect with your breath and your body as you move through these poses.
Where can you practice it?
You can practice yoga anywhere. All you need is a yoga mat and comfortable clothes.
What effects does yoga have in your everyday life?
Yoga helps you live in the present moment and practice mindfulness. That is a way to really enjoy life and appreciate what you have. It helps you become more conscious about yourself and your surroundings.
