Jackie Mejia

Whether you’re heading to a ‘ugly Christmas sweater’ party or a family dinner party…follow the right makeup ideas to stun the crowd.

These makeup tips are easy do-it-yourself options that can be done with very little time and tools, saving you some cash for holiday gifts and activities instead. Sounds like a win-win situation!

1) Bold Berry Lips

Enter the holiday season with some crimson berry lips that will look tastier than the cranberries adorning the Christmas turkey.

Start out with a raspberry lip liner to line your lips, then fill in with a lips shade that either matches the liner or is a shade darker. Finish off the look with matte eyeshadow in a neutral shade like bone or pearl. Add a couple of swipes of mascara, line the bottom of your lashes with brown eyeliner for a subtle look and you are good to go!

2) Shimmering Metallic Eye Shadow

Add some glimmer during that family Christmas party with sparkling eyeshadow. Contrast a light brown shade on the top part of your brow bone and add a shimmering eyeshadow with flecks of gold or amber to your entire lid. Add a pair of false eyelashes and liquid eyeliner to the top of your lashes to intensify your eyes. You’ll be the focal point of your holiday soiree!

3) Ravishing Red Lips and Winged Eyeliner

Heading to an ugly Christmas sweater party this year? Keep your makeup look classic and sophisticated to contrast the kitschy attire of lightup reindeer noses, jingle bell earrings and those padded Christmas trees that often accompany those Christmas sweaters. Pair a bold red lip with winged eyeliner and add some swipes of mascara before your hit the road.

4) Colorfully Coral

Let your lips do the talking with this colorful creation. Start off with a light matte brown and cover your entire lid. Line the bottom of your eyes with eyeliner (pencil or liquid eyeliner work). Finally, wear a coral red lip and make sure to let your lashes dry in between mascara coats in order to get full, lush lashes without all the mascara clump.

5) A Dash of Green

Green isn’t just meant for the Christmas tree or pine garlands this season. Add shimmering green eyeliner for an unexpected pop of color to neutral eyeshadow and a strong brow. You can also add a matte green eyeshadow to your crease and put a shimmery brown on your entire brow bone for an even brighter color combination. Finish off with sparkly clear gloss.
