Hand it to Kim Kardashian West for bringing the striking trend back and stronger than ever. The reality T.V. star and beauty mogul has released her new KKW Eyeshadow palette recently, along with Mario Dedivanovic, her makeup artist for 10 years.
The KKW Beauty x Mario Dedivanovic was set to release April 5th, and there have been some mixed reviews on how drastic this “blue eyeshadow look” may look on them.
With a high-impact, strong pigmented, metallic cobalt blue eyeshadow, even Kim K. herself, confesses would have never taken the risk to even try it if she wasn’t distracted when Mario pulled this look on her.
It is definitely not a Plain Jane color, but just like KKW, once you try it, you’ll fall in love with it! What a better occasion than to premiere this outstanding hue in cat-eye form to prom?!
Below, we gathered some cobalt blue eyeshadow looks to try!
This look combines a light turquoise color on the inner lid towards the middle and then blended with a darker teal, forming the outer lid and outer crease. An amethyst (grayish purple) is combined to bring more depth into the look, on the above crease. Finally, a lavender light mauve highlights the brow bone. Don’t forget to blend the outer corner of your eye in a V-Shape along your crease and top lash line for a pretty eye cat shape and to diffuse the colors and harsh lines.
This look would look great for a night out with your friends, and would look dazzling in a shimmering dress for prom!
For a more fun and young look, dare to use a turquoise pencil eyeliner, that’s creamy and well pigmented for your waterline, and a liquid eyeliner for the lids. Finish up with a delicate wing across the outer lid.
This look is great to add a pop of color for a day to school, or a casual day out with your friends!
For this more subtle look, opt out of the regular black liner and add this pop color to your everyday-makeup routine.
This more delicate look would look great for a date night or maybe a nice dinner.
For this very glammed up look, create a smoky eye appearance by adding this gorgeous blue on your outer crease and blending it out with an orange tone. Add an extra touch of glitter to the inner corner of your eye if you want to achieve the exact same look.

This edgy and glamorous look caters to risk takers and makeup gurus that are not afraid of trying such a prominent eye. But even if that’s not you, it doesn’t hurt to try! You might fall in love with it and could wear it for a special occasion.
This simpler, yet very bold look on Kim K., consists of simply creating an eye-cat shape around your eyelid with a cobalt blue metallic eyeshadow and finishing it up with some liquid black eyeliner along your upper lash line. Lastly, with a black pencil eyeliner, draw over your upper and lower waterline, into your inner corners. Complete the look with mascara and Ta-da! You’ve achieved the “KKW blue eyeshadow look.”
