We’re finishing off Women’s History Month with some of the models from @La Quinceańera By Decoradisimo. Get to know these amazing girls and the women that have shaped and inspired them.
Name: Alva Echegoyen
Who is the most influential woman you know? How does she inspire you?
My sister Cielo inspires me every day. A couple of years ago, my father was detained by I.C.E and we would visit my father at the detention center three times a week. My sister became an advocate for the detainees while being a spokesperson for my father’s legal case all while balancing school life. Through this hard time, my sister put others before her and still became the 10th student in the Santa Ana Unified School District to be accepted into the prestigious Ivy League, Harvard University. She not only inspires me, but she inspires a community of dreamers and young children to strive for their goals no matter how small the city is.
What are some of the biggest challenges that women face today?
The biggest challenge women face today is the unequal opportunities we face in all areas of our lives. The lack of presence in males dominated jobs, not having the freedom to dress how we’d like, and most importantly the inadequate pay gap between men and women.

Who is the most influential woman you know? How does she inspire you?
My mom has always provided me with what I’ve needed. She is selfless and inspires me to become a better person and to never give up on my dreams. Being the first person in my family to go to college has not been easy. Although it’s her inspirational words and support that are getting me through my first year. I’m very proud of her because she has reached her 1st anniversary as an entrepreneur.
What are some of the biggest challenges that women face today?
Many people think we are “weak” but only we know what we are capable of. Although, I know that sooner or later we will be the bigger voice and I will be one of them.
