We understand you are at a point in your life where any decision you take is relevant and important for your future in order to reach success. Do not allow the current economic situation bring you down; think positive to fulfill your academic goals whether it is looking into attending a university or getting a scholarship.

You must know there are plenty of academic scholarships available. Cien Amigos, Centro Cultural Mexicano del Norte de California and the Consulate General of Mexico  have joined forces to offer scholarships to Mexican, Mexican-American and Latino students living in Northern California.

Submissions have been accepted since April 2nd and will be until May 15th. 50 scholarships worth $1,000 each will be given out to students enrolled or about to attend either a university or a community college located in Northern California. 100 High school students will also be awarded with $300 scholarships to cover university preparations fees such as classes, supplies and the SAT registration.

This opportunity extends to Latino adult education institutions that will be awarded with funds to cover their services.

What are the requisites to apply?

  • The applicants need to be a low income student currently attending college or high school.
  • Present proof of registration to a public or private university located in any of the 24 counties in Northern California such as: Alpine, Amador, Butte, Calaveras, Colusa, El Dorado, Glenn, among others.
  • A 2.5 or greater GPA

How do I know if I was chosen?

The awarded students of these college, high school and adult education institutions’ scholarships will be announced on June 30th, 2012 on Cien Amigos Facebook account: and on paper by Cien Amigos-IME.
