5 Simple Ways to Relax Your Feet after Wearing High Heels

High heels are one of the most popular footwear options for Quinceañeras. They are classy, fashionable, and chic, and they make a fashion statement everywhere you go.

However, like everything else good, wearing them has some consequences. For most Quince girls, it is severe foot pain the following day or what is popularly referred to as high heel hangover.

As annoying and painful as high heel hangover can be, it should not stop you from wearing those perfect pair of high heels as there are many ways of dealing with it.

Here are 5 of the most useful ways of relaxing your feet after wearing high heels:

#1 Ice the Feet

If you are going to wear high heels, it is a good idea to make sure that you have an ice pack or some ice in the fridge, as you will need it afterward. Ice is one of the most useful ways of relaxing the feet after wearing high heels, as it will reduce inflammation and is also handy for dealing with the pain. It is also a simple remedy to apply as you will only need to place an ice pack over the painful heel. But, you can also freeze a water bottle and roll your feet over it for some relief.

#2 Stretches

One of the reasons why your feet will feel painful and sore after wearing heels is the fact that these shoes cause the Achilles tendons and calf muscles to tighten or shorten. And so doing some yoga and stretches will help to loosen and relax the muscles, ligaments, and tendons in your feet. There are various stretches that you can do, but the wall and calf stretches seem to be the most useful ones.

#3 Foot Soak

A foot soak is a useful remedy for almost any foot problem. For this remedy, all you need to do is add a few spoons of Epsom salt to some warm water and soak the feet for at least 15 minutes. You can also add some essential oil to the water for an even more relaxing foot soak.

#4 Foot Massage

Foot massage is another great way of relaxing your feet after wearing high heels. Pressing your feet gently after soaking them for a few minutes using massage or essential oils encourages the flow of blood and relaxes the tense muscles. And you can either do an easy foot massage using your fingers or use a foot massager for even better results. But regardless of what you choose, make sure that it goes deep enough and not just massage the surface.

#5 Wear Sneakers

You will not feel like wearing heels again anytime soon when you have a high heel hangover.  The wise thing to do is to wear some sneakers the following day, as they will give your painful feet some time to recuperate. Also, sneakers support the feet and help them maintain a more natural posture or alignment, which is just what you need to cure the high heel hangover after your big celebration.

Also, try to take some precautions to prevent or at least minimize the pain by making sure that the high heels fit properly and by avoiding standing on hard surfaces for too long.
