Have you been losing sleep over this? Are you afraid of becoming inadvertently speechless in front of your guests? Fear no more, Quinceañera! Patricia Sturla, creator ofPatricia Sturla Studios, shares her best public speaking tips with you!

So read on, learn from the experts and master your ‘Thank You’ speech in no time! Follow these next steps and be confident while you thank your guests for being part of such a special celebration:

  1. Be Yourself

You have a unique essence, after all that’s why you have so many people to invite to your Quince – they genuinely like you! It is you who will steal their hearts so don’t be afraid to be yourself!

  1. Focus

Remember, no one knows exactly how you feel on the inside, so be prepared to ‘fake it ’till you make it’! Focus by fixing your eyes on three different guests- one on the right, one in the center and one to your left. Try to switch every now and then and keep in mind whenever you make eye contact – that person is less likely to see your mistakes and concentrate on your words.

  1. Stay Calm and Confident

Your anxiety expresses your desire to be liked and perceived as successful by those who will listen to your speech. It is pretty much the fear of ridicule and the need for approval. We must accept that there is the possibility that someone might not like our performance. However we must do our best and care little about what others might think.

  1. Rehearse

No matter how short or long your speech is, rehearsing is key in acing your Quinceañera toast. Practice makes perfect, and the more you familiarize yourself with your words, the less nervous you will be on your Quince day.
