“Quiero Mis Quinces” star Natalia Give Us the Scoop Behind her One of a Kind Renaissance Quinceañera

Natalia recently received the surprise of a lifetime when her special appearance on the popular TV Series “Quiero Mis Quinces” included a musical performance featuring none other than Henry Santos from the multi-platinum selling Latin group, Aventura. But the live performance and the party itself weren’t the best part of her quinceañera experience. Take a look at this quince girl’s most cherished quince memory and read how Natalia is taking it back to the basics.

The tradition: A quinceañera is such a wonderful experience. Ever since I was a little girl I would watch my mom’s quinceañera video and I knew that I would eventually go through that same experience myself. But more than seeing it as just a tradition, I also see it as something that connects me to my family and which shows the bond between them and me.

The theme: I have a unique personality and I knew that I didn’t want any detail of my quince to be like anyone else’s. Most girls choose a Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast or an Ariel (Little Mermaid) theme but I knew I wanted something unique so my mom and I decided on a renaissance theme.

The basics: My God-given purpose in life is to teach children that it’s alright to be different. I want to study child psychology when I grow up so that I can help kids understand that they can overcome any problem they may have. I want them to know that nothing can stop you and that they have the power to overcome anything.

Through “Quiero Mis Quinces”, I was given the opportunity to talk to kids who suffered from autism. When I found out about this opportunity, I knew that it was going to be a really good experience because of my desire to be a child psychologist. I want children to overcome whatever fear they may have and to reach their full potential so I’ll be doing community service hours with that same program over the summer and helping out as much as I can.

I think that helping kids gives you a feeling of happiness; just knowing that you helped someone feels incredibly amazing. I think it’s important for young girls to volunteer or do something more productive than just spending time doing things like shopping. I understand that shopping is fun but I think that helping kids is more important. Helping someone else out makes them feel as if somebody cares for them and is something that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.

A tip from the Quince-pro: My advice to girls that are planning and organizing their quinceañera would be to be ready for anything. During the preparation and planning everything is fun but on the day of your party you will get nervous. Just remember that in the end, everything will be just fine.
