Villa 5, five siblings and one destiny

Lizbeth, Vanessa, Iliana, Jasmeen, and Joel Villa are revolutionizing regional Mexican music.

They are the members of Villa 5, five siblings who sing, play instruments, and radiate good vibes. "Having a dream and making it come true is something that only happens to a few. And judging by how the members of Villa 5 feel, they seem to already be part of this group of lucky ones, and none of them are over twenty-five years old. They have plenty of reasons, they have powerful voices, a unique look that combines norteño, rock, and pop, and an energy so contagious that you will surely become one of their fans.

Regional Mexican music is a genre that we have listened to since we were children, and that we have wanted to give a modern touch to by incorporating pop and rock," says Lizbeth, the group's lead vocalist and guitarist, and also the most extroverted. She also asserts that in their home, they didn't just listen to the most renowned norteño music, like Miguel y Miguel and Los Tigres del Norte, but also The Beatles and Supertram, thanks to their father, Joel Villa.

In this way, the Villa 5 siblings developed a broad musical culture from a young age, while they learned to fight to make a name for themselves in the music world. And all this despite their very humble origins. "We were very poor. We grew up on a ranch in Simi Valley, California, without water or electricity, and we played with borrowed instruments. At that time, we didn't even have money for gas," say Jasmeen (bajosexto), Iliana (drums), Vanessa (bass, tololoche, and second voice), and Joel (accordion). "That's why we are very grateful to our parents.

The rest is history. Edgar Cortázar, a renowned composer and producer for artists like Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, and Ariana Grande, wouldn't take long to discover them and sign them to his own record label, Toro Music. "When I saw these five siblings sing, I couldn't believe it. They seemed like an exceptional group, out of the ordinary, composed of women with the brother on the accordion, and with an incredible look."

The truth is that we can hardly believe what is happening to us. People recognize us and sing our songs," says Lizbeth enthusiastically. "And this encourages us to fight harder and want to take our music to the whole world." They have the talent and vitality to achieve it.
