How to measure yourself for a quinceañera dress, step by step

Are you planning on buying your dream dress for your Quinceañera online?

Buying your Quinceañera dress at a boutique or store can be a bit frustrating if you can't find exactly what you're looking for. But the fear is even greater when buying online.

We know it! Online shopping can be risky, but we have the solution to your problem...

No need to worry by following our guide, which tells you step-by-step how to measure yourself in order to find the perfect size even when you can only see the dress through your mobile phone or computer.

Here are the tools you will need:

  • Tape measure (inches on the side)
  • Pencil and paper to write down measurements

(There is no specific order of what to measure first, as long as you get all the measurements)

#1 Measure your Bust

The bust is not necessarily the size of your bra. Make sure to wrap the tape measure around the fullest part of your bust. Also, keep the tape measure as parallel to the ground as possible and measure under your arms, not around them.

#2 Measure your Waist

Your waist is located approximately 1 inch above the belly button. Do not tighten the tape measure so that there is enough room to breathe inside the dress so that it does not suffocate you.

Can't find your natural waist?

Lean to one side, your side folds will form and you will be able to see it.

#3 Measure your Height

In this step, you can get help to take accurate measurements. Make sure you are barefoot. Measure from the top of your head to the floor.

#4 Measure your Hips

Make sure you are not only measuring the front part, wrap the tape around the widest part of your hips. Your hips are usually 7 inches below your natural waist.

Things to consider:

  • When shopping online, make sure to check the website's size chart so you can better understand which size will fit your body better.
  • Some websites advise measuring yourself barefoot and adding about 5 cm in height, in case you are wearing heels.
  • Depending on the style of your dress, there will be different types of measurements that may be necessary, look for reviews on the internet according to the dress brand.
