All about the new Disney movie: Beauty and the Beast.
When it comes to Disney princesses, Belle stands out as the first who didn't need a prince to improve her life or be truly happy.
Happy living with her father, Belle enjoyed the simplicity of life without the need to fall in love or be swayed by the charms of Gaston, the most attractive and flirtatious man in town.
We're talking about a brave princess who didn't hesitate to defend herself with a stick in an attempt to protect her horse from a wolf attack.
Belle is a girl like you who enjoys reading and is not dazzled by what she doesn't have. She is intelligent, curious, brave, a good friend, and an excellent daughter. It's a message that is as relevant now as it was when the animated film was released in 1991.
However, as with any remake or new version, there is always concern about how the film might lose some of the shine that the first version brought.
That Lumiere would lose some of his charm, or the Beast some of his growl, or even that Belle would lose some of that inner strength, but it was precisely that which motivated her to be herself.
