NBC’s “Fashion Star” is about to get some diva love! Premiering its second season on Friday, March 8, 2013 (8-9 p.m. ET), the reality competition series will feature the work of Latina designer Johana Hernandez of GLAUDI by Johana Hernandez.

Along with 12 other designers from around the country, Hernandez will compete for the multi-million dollar prize of launching a clothing line in Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue and Express. Last season, designer Kara Laricks took home the $6 million contract grand prize with Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, and H&M.

Each week, celebrity mentors Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie and John Varvatos will guide their teams through the weekly challenges that are designed to expand the designers’ brands. In the case of Hernandez, “Fashion Star” will serve as a platform to further develop her GLAUDI by Johana Hernandez line. Both her fashion line and Latinos Con Corazón, an organization that produces fashion + music + art events, were launched by the young Salvadorian-American to help raise funds for underprivileged children in Latin America. Hernandez is known as one of the contemporary young Latino designers emerging from the Los Angeles area. Her signature mod designs, which fuse femininity and bold structures, have appealed to divas of Latin pop such as Paulina Rubio and Gloria Trevi.

The GLAUDI by Johana Hernandez designer will compete against the following:

Los Angeles-based designer David Appel; Milan, Italy-based designer Silvia Arguello; New York City-based designer Hunter Bell; Austin-based designer Priscilla Barroso; New York City-based designer Cassandra Hobbins; New York-based designer Tori Nichel; Austin (Texas)-based designer Amber Perley; Brooklyn-based designer Daniel Silverstein; Los Angeles-based designer Brandon Scott; Malibu-based designers Jesse Vasquez and Garrett Gerson; and Los Angeles-based designer Bret Young.

During each episode, viewers will have the chance to immediately purchase the winning designs showcased on the episode that week. “Fashion Star” will premiere its second season on Friday, March 8, 2013 (8-9 p.m. ET).
