The Perfect Pedicure

Feet support our body and help us move everywhere; they endure the torture of high heels and platforms, patiently waiting for us to sit down and give them a break. But in return, what do we do for them? Like our hands, our feet need to be pampered from time to time, so they stay relaxed and presentable at all times, especially in areas where sandals are worn for most of the year.

Essential Tools

Similar to a manicure, a pedicure requires the use of the following tools: orange stick, nail clippers, nail file, cuticle oil or cream, base coat, exfoliant, pumice stone or a substitute, foot moisturizer, a basin with warm water and a few drops of soap for soaking, nail brush, cotton, nail polish remover, nail polish or nail paint, and toe separators.

Let's get to work!

Start by removing nail polish, then cut the nails horizontally and file them. Apply cuticle softener and soak your feet in warm water for about 10 to 15 minutes. Then take one foot out of the water, dry it, and proceed to clean the nails and gently push back the cuticles. Ensure your nails are well-filed and polished. If your toes have skin or calluses around the nails, carefully trim them with a special clipper. Use the pumice stone to smooth the soles of your feet, paying special attention to the heel. Then soak the foot again and proceed to brush it, along with the nail area. If you often wear sandals, it's recommended to use an exfoliant once a month to keep the skin on your feet soft. Rinse the foot and proceed with the other foot. Then apply moisturizer. Make sure to clean any cream residue from the nails. You can do this with cotton soaked in nail polish remover. Finally, paint your nails by applying a clear coat first and then the colored one. Your feet will look clean, and you'll feel relaxed.

Homemade Recipes

The following natural body scrubs options we offer here are the same as those recommended in the manicure section.

Lemon and Sugar

Soften your feet with lemon and sugar. Cut a lemon in half and squeeze it into one of your hands, making sure the liquid doesn't spill. Add a handful of sugar to the lemon juice. Now, with both hands, mix the two ingredients and immediately start rubbing the mixture on your foot. Don't leave any area of your feet unscrubbed. Then rinse it with plenty of water and dry it. Repeat the same process with the other foot. You'll feel the difference. Then apply foot cream.

Sea Salt and Liquid Soap

Sea salt, being coarser than table salt or refined salt, can be combined with liquid bathing soap. Use a small, dry container to make the mixture. Add a little liquid soap to the container and gradually add sea salt. Mix the ingredients until a consistent paste forms. Apply it to your feet and rub vigorously. You can use this mixture for the whole body, but avoid using it on your face as it could damage your skin. When you've finished the exfoliation process, rinse with plenty of water. It feels fabulous!
