Top 5 outdoor sites across L.A. for your photography session

Maria Elena Aguilar

Selecting the perfect Quince dress, venue, decorations,  catering menu and more can be a hassle!

In an effort to  make your job easier, we have scoured the City of  Angels in search of some of the best sites for your  official quince photography session. We have created a  list of the top five places to take your Quince pictures  in or around the Los Angeles area.

The sites were  chosen based on accessibility, aesthetic, and cost. Take a look and be sure to visit the sites yourself before deciding on a particular one.

1.   Cascades Park

700 S. Atlantic Blvd.
Monterey Park, CA 91754

This park is a great place to bring your entire court and take your official Quinceanera pictures, especially if you’re planning your celebration for the spring time. The park is open to the public, but it’s usually quite empty so you don’t have to worry about other ‘unwanted guests’ in your background. The weather here is usually sunny and mild all year round, although it can get quite hot during the summer months.

2. Averill Park

1300 South Dodson Ave.
San Pedro, CA 90732
(310) 548-7671

Averill Park is a beautiful gem located in San Pedro, Ca. and it’s also one of the area’s popular destinations for wedding/Quinceanera pics. The park has a gentle waterfall, a meandering stream, and ponds that are home to wild ducks and geese. Dramatic hills with lush greenery and a gazebo set on a hill top offer spectacular views of the city and harbor below. The park is open 7 days a week from dawn till dusk.

3. Exposition Park Rose Gardens

701 State Drive
Los Angeles, CA 90037
Tel. (323) 763-0114

This rose garden is among one of Southern California’s best kept secrets. Located in Exposition Park, it is hard to believe that such a naturally beautiful location exists amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday city life. The abundance of roses at this garden provides the perfect background to add a princess-like touch to your quince pics. Note the following restrictions: you must secure a picture permit by calling the number above; you must start your photography session between 9am – 2pm; the rose garden is closed every year from January 1st – March 15th for pruning back the roses.

4.  Almansor Court

700 S. Almansor Street
Alhambra, CA 91801
(626) 570-4600

Almansor court is located along Lake Alhambra and the Alhambra Golf Course, which means it is abundant in beautiful greenery that makes for a perfect background. Their Lakeside Gazebo is the perfect setting for outdoor ceremonies and pictures. The only restriction to photographs at this location is that you must celebrate your entire ceremony here if you want to take advantage of the picture-perfect setting.

5. Huntington Botanical Gardens

1151 Oxford Road
San Marino, CA 91108
(626) 405-2100

The Huntington Botanical Gardens are a breathtakingly beautiful site located at the Huntington Library in San Marino, just southeast of Pasadena. With several different gardens to choose from at this site, the best gardens for taking quince pics are: The Rose Garden, the Shakespeare Garden, the Japanese Garden, and the Chinese Garden. Of course, it’s a great idea to stop by beforehand and take a tour for yourself to determine the one that’s best for you. The Huntington Botanical Gardens are recommended for families who have a larger budget set aside for the Quinceanera photography.
