When Should I Order My Quinceañera Invitations?

With so many details to organize for a Quinceañera, it can be hard to know where to start. One of the most important details is the invitations—they set the tone for your celebration and give your guests their first glimpse of your big day. That’s why choosing the right design takes time and attention.

How far in advance should I order my invitations?

Experts recommend ordering printed invitations 3 to 4 months before the Quinceañera, since there are several steps before the final product is ready.

The process begins with choosing the design. Maritza, owner of Invitation Designer Eventdecor, says she likes to be involved in helping her clients select their invitation design: she sits down with them, advises them, guides them, and they decide together on the best colors, formats, and materials. This decision alone can take up to 15 days. However, “some clients already know exactly what they want and come in with a specific idea.”

An important tip from Maritza: make your guest list by family rather than by individual, which can help reduce the total number of invitations.

Once the design is finalized, the invitations can take 1 to 3 weeks to be ready, depending on the style selected. Guadalupe Cortes, owner of Coquety Designs, explains that some materials must be ordered from outside California, and these materials can take 2 to 3 weeks to arrive. Planning ahead is essential!

Also, don’t forget guests who live far from your city, state, or even outside the country. Sending invitations early gives them enough time to plan travel and accommodations they’ll appreciate it and be ready to celebrate with you!

How long before my Quinceañera should I send out the invitations?

Yareli Zamora, a designer of specialized invitationsrecommends sending the Save the Date” (a pre-invitation used to confirm attendance) about 6 months before the QuinceañeraThis helps you get a clearer idea of who will receive the formal invitation.

For the final invitations, experts agree that the ideal time is 1 to 1.5 months before the Quinceañera. Sending them early gives your guests enough time to:

  • Choose their outfit and accessories
  • Purchase a gift
  • Request time off work
  • Book flights or accommodations if needed
